It is entirely possible that a similar situation will present itself in season 4, with the revelation that someone we already know is on board the freighter

— Dharmacide

The number 3 can be seen throughout the season 3 finally, and especially regarding phone calls. Jack called Kate 3 times, Dr. Hamill left 3 messages for Jack, and Naomi and Jack tried to call 3 times before they got an answer (originally with Sayid, once in the Radio Tower, and Once before Locke showed up)

The point of all this is that we did not know who Jack was calling in the flashfoward, and when we found out it was Kate. Kate was an unexpected yet very familiar person to see in that scene. It is entirely possible that a similar situation will present itself in season 4, with the revelation that someone we already know is on board the freighter. Who knows, maybe there are even 3 people we already know on the freighter!

I am actually interested in hearing who you all may think could be (if you buy this theory at all) Is it Christian Shephard? Did Michael and Walt get picked up by the freighter while they were leaving the Island? Driveshaft?

I don’t know about the number 3. But maybe your correct in that someone we have seen before is on the freighter, who knows.

Wow. That was the most inane post in the history of the internet. Glad I was here to see it.

lol. I actually quite like it, except perhaps the justification. But man… Driveshaft are wicked.

    +1 for cheering me up!

not sure about the 3 logic, but there definitely could be someone we already know on the freighter. my money would be on Michael…

Dharma, I think I get where you’re coming from with your number three reference. It may refer to the term, “three times is a charm”. Don’t know for sure, it’s only a guess. We know that numbers and the repetition of them has meaning. +1

Thanks for the feedback. I’m not all that hung up on the number 3 part of this theory, but mainly the part about the freighter. I agree with dabiatchishere about “three times is a charm”. But regarding the freighter, maybe it will be a moment like the one when Jack first sees Desmond in the hatch. Perhaps someone from a flashback? 3.

Dharma I think you are spot on the money re: Mike and Walt. I think they would have been intercepted by the Freighties (TM) whilst sailing round the island.

PS Sorry about the TM but I felt it was worthy!

    Freighties….That’s gold.

I’m seeing the number -1 a lot here also.

Yes, the number 3 is nothing. Well, not nothing, exactly. It IS three. But, I see the number -1 in your future.

I guess I didn’t realize that so many people had something against the number 3, but I only mentioned it to show why I predict the familiar face on the freighter. I could be looking into it too much, and it could be completely insignificant, but that isn’t the whole theory. The main part was that we will see someone on that freighter that we have already met. I am curious though, does anyone agree with the number three theme? Because there’s more where that came from!

Three shooters on the beach/Three people go back to help (Sawyer,Juliet,Hurley)/Three different conflicts(Beach/Radio Tower/Looking Glass)/Three people swam down into the Looking Glass.

    3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3=108.

DHARMA, maybe Im missing the connection of why the #3 leads you to believe someone we know is on the frieghter. Please explain. Ill hold my -1 till then.

I drew a parallel between the phone call Jack made in the flashforward and the one he and Naomi make on the sat phone. My idea was that since both calls took 3 “attempts” to get through, then maybe the writers are using that to tell us something. I think that because the phone call in the flashforward surprised us with Kate being the one Jack was calling, a similar thing will happen with the freighter. We will see that at least someone on the freighter is someone we already know, much like when we found out it was Kate that Jack was calling. (or when Jack first recognizes Desmond in the hatch).

so, if you follow this connection or even care to comment, the question is “who on the freighter?”

On the other hand, if you don’t dig the theory, then forget you ever read it.

good idea. i still say “-1” is the correct number here.
