(This post relates to the making of a Lost documentary by an outfit called Catchphrase Productions in LA. They’re interviewing several Lost fans, including tharde and me. For those of you who couldn’t care less about any of this, I apologize for taking up valuable theory space. I just couldn’t think of any other way to communicate with several people on here at once.)
So I’m back from LA and I have to say I greatly appreciated the hospitality of tharde and his lovely wife mrs. tharde. :-) Yes, folks, he’s every bit as cool and interesting in real life! Thanks for having me over, tharde. It was a great time. :-)
I also want to thank everyone here who expressed well-wishes for my trip and for my Dad (who had heart surgery last week). Dad’s doing great and everything with my trip went smoothly.
Now, I know a few of you would like to hear more details so I’ll go ahead and provide them here.
The interview went well, I thought. They seemed to like both tharde and me quite a bit. At the last minute they even went out of their way to film thrade and me meeting each other for the first time. They filmed a good deal of our subsequent conversation as well.
One of the guys working on the film thought I might be able to help him with a screenplay he’s trying to write. So hopefully something will come of that. Also, I might be able to provide some of the music for the film, but I don’t know about that yet.
The interview itself was cut short a bit by previous obligations they’d made (although they did try to cancel them so the interview could continue). That said, the interview did last over four hours. They changed tapes a few times and the battery once! :-) They asked about various mysteries in the show (smoke monster, the numbers, etc.). They asked my opinion on each of the characters. They asked me to summarize a number of the popular theories floating around out there. They asked me about Lost fans and the fan community.
So far all they know about the film’s distribution is that it will be released on DVD. I think they’d like for ABC to pick it up, but none of that is certain yet.
But they’re a great bunch of guys working on it. So I feel very confident it’ll be good when it’s finished whether or not it’s ever popular.

My only complaint… I didn’t get a little metal airplane for flying to LA all by myself. I guess they don’t do that kind of thing anymore. :-)

Professor, once again I find myself telling you, ‘excellent work!!!’ I’m really glad to hear things went so well for both you and Tharde. I can’t wait to see the film, please make sure you let us know the release date and how we can get our grubby little hands on a copy!
There’s a prayer heading out for your Father’s rapid and complete recovery. My Mother had a valve replaced on her heart several years ago so I know how tense those hours are while you wait. I’m very glad to hear his surgery went well. Good news on all fronts!
Dear Prof, I would like to echo the sentiments of kat,annie sham, & well the list is waaay to long to list all of your supporters that are on this site. I was away for the day yesterday & am just trying to catch up on everything here. I also want to wish for your Dad’s speedy recovery. I am sure that you & tharde did this site proud. I too am looking forward to seeing this when it becomes available, but I’m sure you will keep everyone informed? : - OO That was for Fred,any chance he will be showing up on that Documentary or for that matter,here anytime soon?? ; ^ g.

Proffie, That sounds like an excellent time for you and Thardie, and am glad the two of you were able to meet.
It certainly doesn’t surprise me that you would be approached for your writing skills, either. That is very cool! Start practicing with the music, by following through with the song I asked you to write for us.
PS, I am glad your Dad is now recovering from the surgery, and know he will be fine, in time. Prayers are with you!
Wow!!! Is right… Prof your the best Thanks for the kind words…Honestly this weekend was unbelievable for me. I had the most awsome opportunity to meet the one and only ProfO. If any of you are wondering Prof is one of the most interesting people that you could ever talk to. When he arrived on Saturday night we talked on the phone for about 2 hours and the time flew by so fast that I’m positive time was moving in mysterious ways indeed. The next day we met again and taped our conversations for another 2+ hours, and after they stopped filming we talked about Lost ideas for another 3 hours!!!! Honestly we could have talked all night but Prof had an early flight the next morning.
Truly it was my honor and privledge to host our meeting and look forward to meeting again, and I not talking about in another life brother.
Hey prof, what a great experience! Hope to see you and tharde on my tv one day soon :) All the best.
Thardie, it sounds like you two really hit it off. That’s exciting, and I believe everyone wishes to experience what you two have!
Proffie, One worthy note of mention. I was drawn to this site, way back when, and what convinced me to join was the talent of yourself, Hurricane aka Katrinicity and Jazzprof. There were a few others who sadly left the site. I was in awe of your theories, talent, insight and your writing abilities. I hope that you follow the path of a “writer”, because I think you would be very successful!
dab: The two of us talked of actually meeting some of the great people of the site like yourself. Hopefully one day we will all have such an opportunity. How much fun would it be to all meet in one place. That would truly be a CF to remember.

They did ask me if they could have permission to use Fred footage in the film. And they did ask me several questions about Fred. I don’t know if Fred will make it into the film, but it seems as though they’ve planned for that possibility.
I’m sure that either tharde or I will let y’all know when we find out how it’s going to be released. They have interviews through the end of the month but I think they want it finished well before season four, so… sometime between here and there, but I have no clue how they’re going to pull that off.
A word of apology also… I was with my Dad all of last week so I haven’t been able to keep up on this site the way I’d like. And now that I’m back I have a pretty significant backlog of work. I miss reading all of the great theories here and commenting on all of the discussions. I hope I’m back into the swing of things soon, but please don’t take my absence as any reflection on y’all.
Man, I hope I’m all caught up before season four starts at least! :-)

Funny you guys should say “Vegas”, because I think it would be a great location. You can get really cheap packages, regardless where you originate from. If we were to plan something for late June or July/08, it would be even cheaper. Hmmmm, I may make a post!

Great! I have some ideas in mind. Spouses, Significant others, Kids, and Friends are all welcome. Each person would make their own flight arrangements and hotel choices, etc, suitable to their needs. There are some pretty good 3 to 4 day packages, price wise. If anyone were travelling solo and wanted/needed to share a room, (same sex) they could place a request, and see if a suitable roomy could be found. We could set aside one evening/day to get together (Just Theorists), for several hours, (then company could join in later), to meet and talk about our favourite show. Nothing fancy, just casual. I am looking for someone who could make a list and confirm names, etc., so that 30 days prior to departure we would know how many would be attending and firm up travel arrangements. The best deals, are last minute. I’m open to thoughts and consensus from the masses. Any other ideas?

Dab: I certainly think a new post is necessary as I’m sure more posts to keep all up to date will also be necessary. My big question would be When????? Just an idea what if the CF were to be on the night of the Finale? How fun would that be! I think it would be a blast to watch the Season Finale with all of our LTers.

Man I tossed out the Vegas idea and never thought everyone would jump at it so quickly!! Ive been there 14 times (I love seeing the new buildings as they go up - no one else builds like they do in Vegas!). The last time I was there was for my bachelor party 4 years ago so I’m long over due. As long as the work schedule and the Mrs. are ok with it, I’ll be there. I can also give tips on places to stay and things to do to anyone who may need some insights into the sights… so to speak! Sounds like it should be a blast folks!! I’m (tentatively) in!!

In general all us US types naturally understand how it might be hard for you non-US types to make it for a variety of great reasons. We just… you know… want to see you.
