I think that reading the Dark Tower series by Stephen King would be helpfull in a few ways that I list below.

Since many of us ar thinking either time or multiple universes as to what is happening in LOST, I would suggest why The Dark Tower series would be ideal reading. There is a lot of alternate univeres and doorways connecting them at differnet points in time. Also, death in one universe is another way of getting between the different univeres. I think this series would be a good way to wrap your mind on these concepts and help us unravel what is happening on Lost. Just thought I throw that out there. Enjoy your reading…. ;)

You are absolutely right Edwin. First of all let’s note that SK, who is a fan of Lost, asked J.J. Abrahms to produce a tv or movie of the Dark Tower novels. Plus, I have read somewhere on this site that you could see the words TOWER, BEAM and TURTLE(for non SK fans the giant turtle appears in It and the DT series) on the paper Jack was holding in the last episode. But I can’t confirm that myself. I think Lost takes a lot of concepts from the Dark Tower but then again those concepts where already in HG Wells’s novel and SK himself borrows from tons of other works in his novels such has The Wizard of Oz. In the 5th book of the series, Father Callahan’s odyssey through alternate America’s is very much like Jake finding himself in an alternate future where is dad isnt dead.

Check lostpedia’s list of literature mentioned on the show.

I’m currently reading Joseph Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness”, then Dickens’ “Our Mutual Friend”.

I was just thinking about that today. I will probably check out “The Third Policeman” & “Catch 22”.

I would suggest “Watership Down” to anyone who wants to check out some of the literature referenced. I loved it.

    Great suggestion Edwin.
