thx for that, he does look like Jacob. Reading his message under the photo makes me think of something another man of science said when unleashing his crowning glory: “now I have become the destroyer of worlds”

    Warning: spoiler ahead!

Whoever Jacob is, the “black smoke” is that person’s incarnate body and that person is seeking help to recombine with his body. Perhaps Ben is delaying or preventing that from happening and thus the need for a protected perimeter around the compound as the incorporeal body seeks revenge and/or access to the “Temple.”

    Blackspeare,

Is that a theory or fact? If it’s just your theory, you don’t need to indicate “spoiler”. A theory can never be a “spoiler” since we don’t know if it’s correct or not.

Blackspeare: This could be a possibility! Please write a theory on it, for us.

    To Nat:

Umm–-interesting point and well taken. The original intent of the “spoiler” designation was to alert readers who hadn’t yet seen that episode or film to be aware that the post could “spoil” it for them. When it comes to theories then it is quite possible that by accident a correct theory could be a defacto spoiler which means that any cogent theory could be a “spoiler.”

When you ask me is my post fact or theory you are, in essence, asking me if I have inside information. I’m in enough trouble already so I’ll just say if you believe the writers when they say the conclusion(s) will be plausible using if not acceptable then radical science then why not believe me.

    To Dabiatchishere:

I suffer from ADD and don’t have the patience to sit down and propose an all encompassing theory–-I just prefer to critique and add a relevant statement here and there.

I think (my theory) hanso is jacob is a man of science and part of his vision/project is to develope inventions (weapons) to aide the future.

For instance - he could be a holographic projection on the Island - I’ve read else where that the smoke monster is an electromagnetic device that is able to read your thoughts and become what you are thinking - how? holographic projections - none of the characters have touched any of their visions have they? Maybe that’s why Locke was not supposed to have his light on - I don’t know.

Locke’s flashlight is classic misdirection. Ben didn’t become agitated when Locke switched the light on, he started throwing things around and making a noise after the light had been on for a while when Locke was about to repeat what he had heard Jacob say. Jacob didn’t want Ben to know what he’d asked Locke to do he wasn’t bothered about the light.

Sorry, I meant Jacob didn’t become agitated by the light
