Why did Ben want Jack to want to do the surgery. A difference between forced participation and choice? Fate suggests something different??
I know this is a little wierd, but if there is a difference then it is important to relize that Ben/the island must have the ability to change final outcomes as long as people make the choice.
So then the next thing is Ben told Locke he brought his dad there….Ben also said, “look at these people - I brought most of them here”…..how/why did he bring these particular people.
Is it possible he is bringing people like Lockes dad, at the brink of death, the Island “keeps them alive” but because they are supposed to be dead they can’t create life?
Also - Ben said he made a decision that took the lives of over 40 people and that history was going to repeat itself?? Was he talking about Jacks free will to make the decision or did he make a decision and ultimatly regret the outcome?

That is the question–-how did Locke’s father get to the island–-when we know that the island’s secret will be known. The Hanso/Dharma group was working on some esoteric science project involving opening of portal time windows and transference through such. When we get to the temple then we’ll see the real technology. The healing properties of the islands are only an artifact–-not the main theme.
We were very much led to believe he was in a car crash…drugged etc..and woke up on the Island..or did Locke really “bring” him there, and if so, did Ben “bring” the others there, and what was their “state of being” when he did….If he’s bringing people who should be dead in the real world is that why they can’t have babies??
I am reminded of Juliette’s comment at the book club meeting where she remarks something to the effect of ” I am acting as if free will is something that still exists”. I think we are still NOT seeing the big picture, if you will, and eventually that will become clear, because I am sure it definitely plays a major role! Nice job!
Just went back….and looked at this…..do you have ESP….I posted…….CHESS Game Yuk……..OHHHHH you are scary!!! Now I really have to be done.
I guess you play chess…sorry - I have to be done when I am resorting to chess…..although wasn’t it Ben’s men playing chess yet again in the season finale before he sends them to attack…???? Is it bedtime? Oh yes - I have free will!!!!!
