this has probably been brought up a lot but im gonna say it again.
The Losties are in purgatory. This explains the finding of the outside world finding the wreckage and no survivors of the Oceanic 815. When John’s father arrives on the island, how come he arrives much after the survivore? Because he didn’t die until then. He knows he is in the after life.
This explains why the previous ailments of the Losties are healed upon arrival to the island. All physical ailments that occur after that point remain because they have happened in pugatory. The way a Losty dies is an implacation of wether they go to heaven or hell. The smoke monster takes you to heaven because it only appears if a person has come to terms with his/her past. If a Losty dies tragically or is murdered they remain in purgatory but do not remain on the island.

The writers have already said “no” to purgatory and “no” time travel but your theory is sound.
The writters and directors have told us several times that they are not in purgetory or in one persons mind and that indeed all that is happeneing to them is real and they are living through it all. It’ ok you didn’t know. But hey keep postin those theories.
The idea of purgatory is, in fact, debunked — but the idea of time travel is not.
mmmmmmmmmm no
Plus…if it was purgatory, then I think there would be MANY thousands of people dropping in each day.
Even if they were in purgatory, if Lockes father already died then why would Ben make Locke kill him?
LOL imagine THAT millions OF PEOPLE falling FROM THE SKY !!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahaha
Funny that the writers shot this down so quickly, because its still the theory that makes the most sense to me!!
“The way a Losty dies is an implacation of wether they go to heaven or hell.”
That statement refutes the theory. All souls in Purgatory eventually go to Heaven.
This is also my theory.
Mine too
Locke’s dad wouldve been in hell, not purgatory
