In the final scenes of the finale episode of Lost Series 3 we see Jack and Kate meet at the airport, either in a flash forward or possibly a flashback……..

Yes Jack mentioned to the surgeon his father being more drunk than he was, at which point i assumed it to be a flashback. However when Jack was talking to Kate about an Oceanic Gold Pass I then assumed it to be a flash forward but now i haven’t decided.

Have you?

Jack says to Kate a he airport “I’m sick of lying……” but doesn’t refer to what he’s lying about……??

Have he and Kate been having an affair behind her partners back ( maybe sawyer? ) and it was indeed a flash forward after they were rescued?

Did they actually meet BEFORE they were stranded on the island, thus the flash forward was actually a flashback? Were they both stranded on a different island before having both received their gold passes and were using the passes when 815 crashed?

Perhaps it was Desmond having a full length flash of Jack’s live as it would be if they got rescued.

Let me know what you think. And may Series 4 be on soon…..

We have to assume it is a “forward flash” a hint is Hoffs/Drawlar funeral home. Also, the cell phones that Jack uses and the fact that he want’s to get back.

I don’t think Kate and Jack met before or anyone else on the island for that matter. But, we have seen the ties or threads that bind them. They don’t know it yet. Sawyer killing Locke’s father was the first glimpse of that. Locke knew it because he got the file from Richard.

I like the idea that the flash forward was Desmond having a flash about how things play out for Jack in the future if they get rescued…after all, Desmond is the only character (thus far) who has been shown to have flash forwards before.

I suspect that this would mean that Des has this flash AFTER he gets out of the Looking Glass (next season), cuz he didn’t appear to be flashing down there with Charlie. In fact (unless he was lying and I don’t think he was), when Charlie asked Des “any more flashes?” - Des said no.

Yeah, I think the ending was pretty straight forward. It’s a glimpse into the future. Jack clearly states “We were wrong…We were never supposed to leave….we have to go back Kate.” And he also says that we wishes every plane he gets on would crash so he could go back. It’s clear in Season 1 that Jack and Kate never knew each other before the island. Her past was a mystery to him, and he always wanted to know more about her.

Those last few minutes of the episode were really meant to shock you. (At least I was shocked). Because Jack has been trying so hard to get everyone off the island. He’s willing to do anything to get everyone off. But now we see that leaving the island makes him suicidal. And maybe Ben was right all along. So now I’m thinking, WHAT are the Others doing on that island that makes Jack want to go back so desperately, that he’d rather KILL himself than live outside the island?? That’s what we have to wait 3 years to find out.

The only thing I was confused about was the comment he made about “get my father down here, and if I’m more drunk than him, you can fire me.” Did the writers just throw that in to make us think it was a flashback, so we’d be surprised in the end? It could’ve just been a sarcastic remark referencing his father’s drinking problems when he WAS alive. OR did the writer’s mean something more by it? Do they want us to think his father may still be alive?

Cyphyr: The writers wanted to confuse us about whether or not Jack’s dad is alive & they now have us wondering 1) Is Jack so messed up that he is just talking nonsense ? OR 2) Is his father still alive because of how Jack’s actions have influenced how things turn out (supposedly in the future)?

The writers have succeeded in confusing us, as many posts here illustrate.

I don’t think anyone has a definitive answer as to whether or not Jack’s dad is actually alive in the flash forward, though.

maybe it was self-defense in saying “get my father down here, and if I’m more drunk than him, you can fire me.” if i kill ten people and you call me evil… i may say “get Hitler down here and if im worse than him, you can call me evil”…and we all know Hitler is dead.

    Not completely relevant, but slightly.

Did anyone get a good glimse of the note that Jack is holding throughout the flash.

The best shot I got of it was when he was holding it in the car.

I can see at the top “Los Angeles…”

    Man found… something… downtown… something, the body of…..”

Those are the only words I can pick out of it. At least we know it’s a dead MAN I guess.
