The survivors see them selves as the “good guys”, right

— tharde5

The island has given us reason to believe that other groups of people have been marooned on the island well before the appearance of our 815ers.(Danielle and her crew) We are on the verge of witnessing an influx of new Survivors. I believe that the ship that is about to pounce on the island will be sabotaged by the security device of the island and will create an entirely new group of island survivors.

If in fact this is the scenario that is played out, and the incoming group is shipwrecked with a majority of their supplies sent to the bottom of the ocean, we will be witnessing a merry go round effect. If these new survivors are left to fend for themsleves much the way our 815ers were then this merry go round effect might just be the standard MO for the island. The island brings new people they learn to fend for themselves and then are forced to deal with Ben and his merry band of Others. Speaking of that what will become of the 815 survivors? What if the new group begins a conflict with Ben? Will Jack and company join forces with Ben. The survivors see them selves as the “good guys”, right. Would they become the new Others? I’ve just been trying to draw a parallel to this new group of people that might be coming to the island with the previous survivors. Is a repetitive cycle what we are about to see.

Is John the same as Danielle? He sure seems to be playing the part (recluse, the island is my home, living the life of a hunter)

Is Jack the new Ben? Maybe Sawyer? Will Sayid play the part of Mikhail? Will Hurley be the new Mr. Friendly/Tom? Was Charlie supposed to take the place of the Musician who programmed the jamming mechanism? Will Kate play the part of the Sheriff (Lady)

Is this all Destiny and each survivor needs to have Faith that the island is their home?

Did you forget the whole part about Jack and Kate back in the “real” world?

Many have speculated that the flash that we witnesses might have been a past experience, actually and flash back. We saw Desmond back in the real world too but guess where he is right now? Ding! your right - He is still on the island!!

Also forgot to mention that the idea of implanted memories are still a possibility as we know that implants are a technology already being used by the others. So its definately a possibility that what you saw was a mere implanted memory. And as best I can tell we havent seen anyone successfully leave the island. Walt and Michael supposedly have left, but their outcome is still questionable/debateable.

So I dont think that we can eliminate the possibility that the whole cycle cant repeat itself.

Tharde.. I think your theroy is a definite possibility… and isn’t that what Ben told Jack anyway.. when they were at the radio tower.. that bad things once happened on on the island, and by making the rescue call, he was about to allow hisory to repeat itself.. or similar…and this theory also ties in nicely with the theories on Locke in the Dharma pit.. alot of people suggested that maybe the skeleton in the pit w/ a gun shot to his head, was an indication that a Locke type character had been there once before, and met the same fate.. getting shot.. as Locke did.. especially when you take into consideration that according the Ben all the Dharma workers were gased to death..

like I said. .you may be on to something..

I think you might be on to something…but the if it is a merry go round affect I don’t think that the Losties can become the new Others because in Ben’s flashback the Hostiles (whom seem to be there before Dharma) killed off the new people (the Dharma people), so now the Hostiles/Others are the orginal people and they are the ones that killed off the new comers; both the people on the boat and the Losties are the new comers, so does that mean the Others will win (by killing them) by this “merry go round” theory? Oh and FYI, black, Kate and Jack aren’t back in the real world; I do believe that it is a flashforward but just like tharde5 pointed out Desmond went back to the ‘real’ world and is still on the island!

tharde: You make some excellent points! We do have a lot of newbies on this site, so I guess a little patience is required. Your theories are always thought provoking. Good job!

I appreciate the kind words dab, and I am trying my best to weather this as I sure many of us are. Lostw:I dont know if the actual circumstances are identical, but the theory does hold water if we dont make exact comparisons. I guess that the idea that things are circular, or repetitive is the main idea. The cast of characters might be changing but the history and pieces is regenerating. I’m not sure that makes sense but in my mind it is logical.

I don’t believe a “merry-go-round” theory is the ultimate outcome. The island holds powerful secrets that Hanso/Dharma was trying to harvest or control and things got out of hand–-the purge. The crash of flight 815 was an intrusion upon the “Others” and the island causing Ben much concern as he tries to dissuade and turn them. No doubt there are other groups looking for the island and thus the reason for blocking signals at all costs. And now we have Naomi’s group about to enter on the island. I do agree there will be three groups now vying for supremacy. Remember Ben’s and Naomi’s group know the secrets, only the Losties are still “lost” except for Locke and Walt. As for Jack’s apparent flash forward–-it’s really in the future–-I don’t believe it will be in the next season’s adventure.

Tharde, I think you are right on about it being a repetitive cycle. I believe that Naomi and her people are from the DHARMA initiative from the mainland and they are coming to the island in response to Locke’s entering 77 after beating the game of chess in the flame station~check out my thoery “Locke’s game of chess and Naomi” and let me know what you think(if you like). In correlation with your theory, I think the DI has come to the island once again and war will begin with the hostiles (this time Ben and the “others”) and one side will have to be purged. I think Jack and the losties will fall in with the new group on the island as I don’t see Jack EVER siding with Ben….Maybe this choice will be a mistake though…hence creating the flashforward we saw.

    Agreed!

Good points jacksbiggestfan! It really would make alot of what we have seen make alot of sense. If in fact it is the return of the DI then it would complete the merry-go-round effect. Like I said all occurrences might not be exactly identical, but we would effectively have two groups in a struggle for the supremecy of the island, followed by a purge, etc….. Blackspeare, I do wonder if in fact the crash was a intrusion or if the survivors are meant to “restock” the Others/Hostiles. That is the point that I was attempting to point out. I believe that Ben’s leadership is the wild-card that could throw the cycle into chaos.
