By the end of the show we will know how the characters are in the future.

In Lost: The Answers, the creators said that they envision the story of Lost as a mosaic: Every episode fills in the past, present, and by the end of the show we will know how the characters are in the future. I believe that where Lost ended on the last episode, showing that Jack and Kate were off the island, with Jack telling her “we have to go back,” that this is the first of a series of “flash-forwards” we will begin to see, in addition to flashbacks showing events before the island, and a continuing storyline on the island.
Also, this is not a full-fledged theory and not nearly as developed as some of the other thoeries on this site, but I was reading quite a few last night out of excitement for the season finale, and I really like a few of them about Adam & Eve. I haven’t delved into it nearly as much as many others have, but since many believe the story has time-travel paradoxes, and since Jack tells Kate they have to return to the island, perhaps him and her return there one day to die in the cave, knowing that eventually they will both come across the skeletons.
