LOST-Theories.com

Long time listener, first time caller. :) I have been reading the posts about the Dharmainitiative “website”, and I have not seen any posts about the word diapause—though maybe I missed it. I looked it up. Here is what dictionary.com says, “A period during which growth or development is suspended and physiological activity is diminished, as in certain insects in response to adverse environmental conditions.”

If the website is really something set up by the producers, maybe it is a clue. If it is, it really goes along with a theory I read about the island being a utopia set up to repopulate the earth after a cataclyzmic electromagnetic event that scientists knew was coming. The “losties” were put in “freeze” until the opportune time. At that time they were placed on the island and it was made to appear they crashed, just as they thought. I know it does not explain everything, and does not cover why the others saw the crash. But it is something to think about.

Why would they choose these people? These survivors? They are all stocked with personal issues. It just doesnt seem like the way that you would “want” to start a Utopian society. Granted there are some pluses to this idea BUT I would think that they would have chosen a few better prospects than the seemingly left-overs that are on the island. And why not bring even numbers of women and men? If in fact we are repopulating the world wouldnt you want to start with the best subjects? Scientists, doctors, geniuses, etc… Not torturers, convicts, lotto winners, rock stars, heroin addicts, con artists? I just doesnt add up

Maybe flight 815 was just an accident and messed up the Utopia building on the island. Nonetheless, just by being there, the Losties would be experiencing the impact of the island’s special properties (diapause), hence all of the weird going - ons.

Would make for an interesting rescue…if time in the outside world is progressing much faster than on the island.
