I was thinking, remember during Ben’s flashback, while in class with Annie, “the hostiles” start attacking, and before you hear gun shots, you see Ben’s desk shake and a slight explosion in the background. And the next scene after that, Ben’s dad said “…then there’s this HUGE explosion….”
The question I have is, what weapons were “the hostiles” using during that fight? I was thinking maybe the explosions were dynamite taken from the Black Rock. If this is true, “the hostiles” surely know about the Black Rock and perhaps there is some connection between them? Perhaps the hostiles are actually survivors from the Black Rock shipwreck.
There are several hints that the natives of the island have been here for a very long time. Mikail stresses it and the statue is a bit older than pirates.
I get the feeling we will find the events playing out now have happened before to some degree. The Black Rock being one of those times.
The difference this time is that Dharma was not another bunch of stranded survivors just trying to survive. They came and began to manipulate aspects of the island. Probably to try and change one of the values in the vanzetti equation.
Good post. I mentioned earlier that i think Richard is a survivor of the wreck. Clearly, he is not aging so could have been alive in the 19th cen. when the ship crashed onto the island.
As far as the weapons, this is what i think-
remember when Locke was feeling the ground? when he and Ben were on their way to the Dharma grave pit? (In “the man behind the curtain”) This made me think of Ben’s class- he was learning about volcanoes. I felt that there was some type of elements planted in the island’s soil, that was distinct enough for Locke to recognize it and distinguish it as being different from the rest of the island’s soil. Perhaps the hostiles were setting up their own volcanoes? What do you think?
I’m sorta in a place where the Others/Hostiles were orignally the ones being watched experimented on etc. remember the Lost Experience video clip when they were talking about taking lives to save lives… Anyway I am certainly under the Impression that the Purge/Battle was to get ‘Jacob’ back. I think Dharma took Jacob and held him at the camp for observation or summit like that. More questions than answers at the moment
Regarding the volcanos.. In this past episode, when young ben and his father were getting off the sub, and were greeted by a woman, placing flowered necklaces around each of the newcomer’s necks, the womans badge stated she was a gemologist.. could there have been some type of mining going on, on the island?… this could very well explain the explosions on the island….
corliss I didn’t even chck out her badge. good observation.
Gordon with you there, Richard is really really old hence the question from Ben ” You do remember birthdays dont you Richard”. Think his role will be huge.
thank you sleepz : )
As this is not a theory, but only a question, why was it rated as a theory?
don’t ask me, I never rate myself
