A few episodes back when Kate and Juliette are handcuffed in the jungle, Juliette tells Kate, “it’s going to rain”. A few seconds later, viola, it starts raining.
This intrigues me, because it opens even more questions about the island. In season 1 and 2 we found out that the weather on the island is “weird”, Charlie pointed that out, and also that Dharma might have been experimenting with weather control. The two most interesting theories I have read about the island on this site are, 1) time travel, and 2) a post Profzone made recently about the connection between the Island and the summer equinox and the winter solace and when the losties crashed on the island. Also someone mentioned something about the “International Date Line”, which was very interesting as well. It seems to me that either Juliette knew it was going to rain because the Dharma Initiative successfully discovered a way to manipulate/control the weather on the island or maybe time travel is involved and the others know the weather because they know the future therefore they have an exact knowing of when it will rain and what-not. Any other ideas?

Interesting point about Juliette. Perhaps she has some precognitive abilities.
Either that or she saw the clouds rolling in and, since it’s a tropical island and the rain comes in patterns anyway, she deduced that the rain was going to fall pretty soon. Also, there is a distinct smell in the air just before it’s going to rain. I live in the rainiest city in the world , so I know it’s possible. Good observations though.
The impression I get from the scenes is that the other person in the scene looks up and just see’s blue skies. I get the feeling that the island has tells, like in poker, and some of the people on the island can pick up on them without even fully understand what it is.
At the end of season 1, as they were getting ready to launch the raft, Arzt mentioned that typhoon/hurricane season was about to start. We have not seen any extremely bad weather that would indicate “normal” weather for the season. Interesting……..
Garymon, I think you might be right that the Island has tells. The others seem to know when it’s going to rain, because they’ve been on the island long enough to know. Locke knows it’s going to rain because, 1) he has a “communion” with the island, and 2) he seems to be well trained in recognizing patterns of the outdoors and jungle, mostly from his training with his dad.
