Some really short theories.

1)Naomi said they found the plane with all the bodies. The plane broke up in three parts kilometers away from each other, we saw people flying off the plane, they would never find all the bodies and probably it would be difficult even to find the whole plane on a trench 4 miles deep. So, yes, the finding was some kind of hoax.

2)Naomi said she was given coordinates in the middle of the ocean, then one day she was turning to her freighter and the sky cleared and she saw land. To me, the most reliable explanation is that the island is cloaked (i know it has been said), meaning that from the outside of a given perimeter you see nothing, just the sea and the sky, but once you enter the perimeter you can see the real thing. The sky cleared near the island, let’s say because weather is controlled.

3)The concrete wall at the Swan station was isolating a ripple in space-time created during the incident mentioned in the orientation film, the button had to be pushed to control this ripple. Desmond’s abilities may be explained by his close encounter with this ripple during the implosion of the Swan.

4)The others did kidnap Cooper (he says one paramedic actually smiled at him, then he blacked out). They did this to see what would happen to Locke, also to initiate him as an other. It seems they’re trying his loyalty to the island to see what he would be capable of doing for it. They do seem a little obsessed about free will and about breaking bonds with authority.

leo, please see my updated theory just a few theories before this one re: the night Naomi landed. Flight 815 crashed on the autumnal equinox and it may be that Naomi crashed on the winter solstice. I doubt this is a coincidence, although I admit I’m not sure what it means yet. If the island is especially “revealed” on these days, then whatever “hides” the island must be tied in somehow with Earth’s seasonal cycle.

ya ever see the shows where they peer pressure someone to do the opposite of what they want them to do to see if they’ll make the right choice even if others are giving them bad adivce i feel that’s what locke was faced with. they were seeing if he was the right one but not if he would kill, but if he was able to say no, put aside revenge and keep his moral standing. this might have been a failure to ben but it was a successful bid towards jacob/richard

Right, but then John turned around and had Cooper killed. Doesn’t that sort of undo his act of mercy?

leo, I completely agree with you on #4. I am almost finished researching something fascinating re: #2. I think everyone will find it interesting when it’s posted.
