From a script writers perspective, when facing an upcoming finale, you typically want to start building the foundation of it weeks before it arrives. We are now, and have been for a few weeks, been seeing a build up to the finale of LOST and what I believe to be the driving force is a traitor in the mist so to speak.

So essiantly, what I am saying is that yes many other things will be happening during the finale, but the biggest theme will be someone that we all trust, will do something really stupid or will purposely turn (kinda like Michael did in season two). There is much evidence to support this theory but the two I believe to be most important are 1) the shows continuall observation of the losties in relation to losing trust in Jack 2) The “snake in the mailbox” comment by the producers. If you dont know what that means, it means a huge twist/surprise that is bad….like when someone goes to check their mail but instead finds a rattle snake coiled inside! That kinda bad! For more info on this, see the post “snake in the mail-box”. Sorry I cant remember who posted it. Anyhoo, it is no secret that trust issues are building and will play heavily into the finale. I do not believe that Jack is going to “turn” and I believe everyone will suffer from losing trust in him. That being said….then who will be a traitor?

Some would argue Locke….but it seems to me that Locke is indeed very much on his own personal “cripple who can now walk” Hero Quest. He is only using Ben and the others to get the info he wants on this place (the island). So count Locke out….I have no idea what the writers plan on doing with this character for season 4.

If any of you are familiar with some of my posts, ive been building a case against Juliett the whole time. See my theory “Setup” and others for more info…..just click my profile name to see all of them. Now, I still believe that Juliett will prove to be a foe not a friend (and I hope someone …perhaps Kate gives that blonde bi$#h a swift but painful death)…sorry had to vent a little…Juliett is(for me) to season 3 what Anna Lucia was for season two (a blight on the show). Now, moving along.

If any of you also know about the whole charlie factor (spoiler) than you know that we are now only one more episode away from good ol’ charlie boys exit. When he gets the boot in “Greatest Hits” you can bet its going to be by evil intent. Meaning someone is going to off him, and try to make it look like an accident. At first I thought it was Juliette….and it still maybe….but last nights episode has made me question this a little. Ive been trying to figure out who it could be….and I think I may have the answer….hear me out.

From a writers stand point, you always want a twist to be something the audience didnt see coming. So when dealing with a case of a mole or traitor, you always want to pick the one person that everyone thinks they can trust. You need to completely build a case for this character. Ex,(do not read if you plan on watching 24 in the future) Nina on season 1 of 24. She was the one character we, the audience, thought we could trust, but alas she was not who we thought. In relation to Lost, there is really only two characters that I can think of ….maybe three that fit the bill. 1)Jack- it would make perfect since to make Jack a traitor because hes the Hero hunk doctor….however I think Jacko gets a pass on this one because the writers are showing way too much interest in his possible comprimise right now. Which is good if you are a Jack fan like myself, because it means that if the writers are pointing the audience to Jack….its not going to be Jack…that would be to obvious. 2) Hurley- yeah this one is laughable I know. I really dont think Hurley has any malice in him but with this show….anything goes. 3) Sayid- and here is, I believe, the winning ticket. Let me further explain.

Desmond sums it up perfectly in “the Brig”. When debating on if they should show Naomi to Jack, Desmond states that he doesnt believe they can trust Jack, so they should get the ONE MAN they CAN trust…..Sayid. So off Hugo goes to retrieve said Sayid….and where do we find him….in the jungle ….digging a hole! It was in that moment I saw Sayid a little different for the first time. Think about it…..what was he digging that hole for? Hmmm….could it be ….for charlies body!!! Yes, Sayid has been compromised and will help in the plan to kill Charlie or something like that. Here is my evidence for this, the show is all about vantage point…..we see certain flashbacks through the individual characters view….which is why in flashes to the plane many things change when being seen through different characters view points. Well….while in Otherville a few weeks back, we see every character (a good bit) except Sayid. We know he is chained to the swingset…we see him interact with Alex a little….but thats it. Who knows what they did to compromise him. Now I know what you are saying….No way right? Because Sayid refused that Juliette should come with them, he also wanted to interrogate Juliette….he also went with Sawyer out to Ethans drop point to ambush Juliette. I believe all of that to be a ruse….he knew what he was doing the whole time. Much like Nina in 24….always seemingly helping Bauer or working for the cause. He needs the losties to still believe in him. Plus, from a writers stand point they cant really do a whole lot more with his character as it is …so why not throw a little more intrigue into him. Plus, it really shouldnt be a surprise people….this is the same man that turned a good friend of his in for a woman. Perhaps the others used her against Sayid….after all they do have files on all the losties.

All of this may be for nothing I know….but to me …Sayid digging that hole means one of three things. 1) He was just digging a random hole 2) He was digging Charlies grave because hes going to kill him 3) He was digging Charlies grave because he too can see flashes or has been told by Desmond that Charlie will soon die. Many possibilities I know….so how about everyone holla back at me and tell me how assinine (sp?) this theory is? Thanks!

I like the theory on Sayid, though, I will be very disappointed if this is the case. Is it just me, or did it sound like he hit something when he was digging as soon as Hurley walked up?

As far as Jack, I believe you are right. I think he knows something about what is going to happen but I think Juliet knows more. She is hiding something and I’m sure Jack will find out soon; as well as the rest of us.

I am new to this site, therefore I have not caught up on all the theories. I think that Penny’s father has something to do with the Dharma Initiative’s beginning and perhaps the reason for the Others being there. But that is all speculation…

After-thought: Plus, Desmond has to get over his ‘demons’ as well. I think facing Penny’s father will ultimately rest his soul, well as far as not being good enough for her, in the father’s eyes. My reasoning behind some of this is: 1)Desmond has not resolved much of his past. 2)Penny’s father is rich and obviously a man of power. 3)The two researchers in the snow at the end of season 2 who called Penny stating, “I belive this is the one” or “We found it.” Something along those lines. 4)The book found with the picture of Desmond and Penny.

    Like stated before… speculation.

I think Sayid was digging for the cable which they found a week ago.

Some good thoughts lostboy! If, “the others” did turn Sayid, all they would have to do is show him his Nadia alive and well,so it’s plausible. The other thing is that Sayid knowing Kelvin and working with the CIA may point to him as being the potential “sleeper” that I keep going on about. As for Jack, he has it baaaad for Juliette, so I no longer fully trust him. Remember what his tattoo says: “He walks among them but is not one of them”. Does that refer to “the losties” or “the others”. We’ll see.

maybe sayid was digging something up that he buried and didn’t want anybody to see what he was working on. or, like somebody else just wrote, he is trying to dig up that cable, or he did find where that cable went to and is digging up what is at the end of it. OR he is digging up the dead bodies of barbie and ken to make sure they are really dead…..LOL

good point dabiatch….I forgot about the tatoo…..perhaps it does referenec Jack not being amongst our losties….not the others. I dunno.

I’m beginning to think Jack HAS turned, and I’m pissed. The BLOND DEVIL, palease, trust an other? Why do that unless you’re an other as well…..whatever her intentions with Jack are, she’s using him to get what SHE wants. And If Juliet has told Jack that she plans to take the babies and pregnant women, Jack is just going along with it because he wants to get Juliet in bed. whatever. Sayid…I trust him, so you may be onto something about the writers turning someone everyone trusts into the traitor. When I first read this theory, i thought maybe he was digging a hole to hide the sat phone hurley gave him, I only watched the episode once so I guess he was digging the hole before the phone was shown to him…..I think (spoiler-MAYBE) sayid is digging for a cable to an underwater beacon that will reconnect the sonar capabilities on the island enabling them to try and get off the island…I heard Charlie volunteers to swim under and connect it, to his demise.
