Things are now going back in accordance with plan A for Ben

The great thing about this show (among many great things rather) is watching the current season and then rewatching the old seasons with all the knowledge (though with the pace of the show its little knowledge at all) that we now have in the current progression of the show. That being said I think we are all forgetting some things. Dealing with a show like LOST, we are dealing with multiple timelines ofcourse. Examples, the Losties timeline from when the crashed, the others timeline from when the losties plane crashed (and perhaps even before the plane crashed as we know they have been there for quite some time as Mikhail stated) and of course the flow of time in the real world (if its even still out there, eh Desmond?) Now please bare with me here.
After recently rewatching both seasons one and two I really began to see things I had almost forgotten. Number one, has anyone noticed how season three is moving in a way almost to have us believe these “others” are really not that bad. Ben and his peeps, at times they almost seem hospitibal, esp toward Jack. Then you watch the other seasons and cant help but remember that these are the freakin people that broke the neck of one of the losties when they refused to bring claire back! These are the same people that had Michael murder Anna Lucia (and Libby by accident) by threatning poor Michael to NEVER see his son again! Im sorry but I dont really see how murdering people makes anyone a “good guy”. Ben is indeed, as Alex has stated, a manipulator. And his false kindness and promises are all manipulation my friends. Now secondly, about the timelines. Something in season two just doesnt add up to me. It all starts around the end of season two. We know someone makes contact with Michael on the computer claiming to be Walt. Was it really Walt? Something tells me it was not. So then Walt knocks out Locke, locks Jack in the armory with unconciouss Locke and heads out to find his boy. at the same time, Mr. Benjamin Linus is on journey headed straight toward our Losties camp. That doesnt make sense does it? Think about it. If the master plan was to get Michael to bring Jack (and Kate and Sawyer to use as collateral to force Jack to do the surgery), then why have the man that needs the surgery headed in a b-line straight for the very people he wants to bring to him? Then I thought back to one single line spoken by Ben. He told Locke he was coming there to “get” Locke. What if he was telling the truth? Now when good ole’ Ben got caught in Rousseus trap he had to switch plans. Ms. Clue stated to Michael while in captivity in tent town that “recent developments” had taken place and that the losties had captured one of their people (Ben). This of course spran plan b into action, which was to use Michael to free Ben and bring the doc to them. Now for John. Things are now going back in accordance with plan A for Ben. I believe he indeed did want to take Locke back with him because he apparently knew that the island had somehow healed John of his paraylisis and that with Johns help perhaps he and his people could finally tap into these powers of the island. This point is only proven further by the fact that the others do indeed have Johns father on the island which we saw last week. Many people have speculated on how this could be. I believe its simple….if you follow the timeline (of the losties being on the island for eighty days) and with the obvious knowledge that these others know almost everything about our losties (from Jacks wifes physical appearance to how Locke lost his legs) then it is apparent that they had PLENTY of time to pull their resources, locate Anthony Cooper, and bring his sorry butt to this island. The real question is why? And the answer….to help John find peace and no longer be angry, and perhaps to turn him to their cause and really tap into the island, using John as the catalyst. What does all of this mean? It means that if Ben and his people suceed in “turning” Locke, then Jack was correct after all…they really are going to have a Locke problem. a real big one! And lastly, at the end of season two…with the portugese (or whatever nationality they were) finding the “signal” and reporting it to penny. I have assumed that that scene took place in the “real” world in “real” time as our losties struggle for survival on the island. But what if it wasnt? There is no proof of a timeline for when that scene really took place now is there? I no it really means nothing, but with this show…nothing could be something, and nothing should ever be assumed. After “The Man from Tallahassee”, I have almost certainly ascertained that I have no freakin idea whats really going on here on this island. I just wanna sit back and enjoy the ride. After all none of us have controll over where the story is going, only the writers….so their is no way to fully know whats up. But its just so fun to guess isnt it?

Nice observations. Is it possible that the timelines are not meant to line up? Desmond’s episode showed how multiple possible outcome were possible, along different threads in space and time.
Awesome. Please see my Theory “In the end Jack will have a real “Locke problem”” I’m very interested in your comments! I’m searching diligently for the picture I saw of Anthony Cooper, either on The Hanso Foundation or Widmore Industries website, he was listed as an employee! That would mean that he’s been in with the Others previous to the crash of flight 815. Michael knocked locke out, took a gun, and locked Jack in the armory to go find walt simultaneously with Ben coming to the losties camp to find locke. Ben knew about Locke’s immediate recovery and knew that he was special to the island and wanted him. Or possibly Ben was on his way to get Locke AND Jack because of his spinal tumor. That could be why Mrs. Klugh knew to put Jack on the list of people for Michael to bring back? I’m a repeat offender myself with the season 1 and 2 DVD’s.
A quick note on the virtual omniscience of the “Others”: they not only know about the Losties past, but they also know things that no amount of research could ascertain. For example, when Jack and Locke and Sawyer meet up with the bearded “Tom” in the jungle and Tom warns them that not to cross the imaginary line in the jungle or else we’ll go from misunderstanding to something else…he also disarms all the men by leveraging the kidnapped Kate. When the men lay down their guns, Tom tells Locke to also give up the gun he has in his pocket. Locke was wearing baggy cargo pants and that gun was well concealed. Tom knew not only that Locke had one and only one concealed gun, but he also knew in which pocket it was concealed. Undoubtedly, there can be many plausible explanations for this, but I believe the reason that the “Other” appear to know everything about the Losties is because they are not actually “Others” but, rather, that they are manifestations of the subconscious desires of the Losties themselves. I believe that the murders and kidnappings and manipulations we have seen are only the actions of the “Others” being misinterpreted by the Losties. One clue to this theory is the inclusion of Dr. Richard Alpert as an “Other”. Alpert’s work with Timothy Leary detailed how the mind and ego’s attachment to the physical world causes us to see transgressions when, in fact, what we are experiencing is liberation. In the case of Ana Lucia, was she murdered or was she freed from the vicious cycle that her life had become? Keep in mind, she had the motive and opportunity to kill Ben, and she chose not to because she did not wish to relive her past mistake of killing, in cold blood, someone who had tried to kill her in cold blood. Michael kills her immediately after this sequence is completed. This killing is only murder form a very narrow, western-culture viewpoint of what murder is. Michael’s child is being held and he must kill Ana Lucia to get him back (or so he percieves) and so he kills Ana Lucia. This is only natural as any creature in nature would willingly kill, without hesitation, to save its own offspring. I believe that the “Others” true motivation is to help the Losties detach from the things that hold them to their past life. In an esoteric way, this detachment is the beginning of enlightenment. For more on this, check out Richard Alpert’s manual on “The Psychedelic Experience”.
http://www.widmoregroup.com/corporate.htm This website has a picture of Anthony B. Cooper as a member of the Board of Directors. Does this mean he has been apart of DHARMA and with the others all along? If the others and DHARMA are infact the same group…
Hey guys. Nickee that is so awsome that you would mention that pic of Anthony because I too saw that photo while engauged in the LOST expierience. I had totally forgotten about it though…..that really opens up some possibilities there. And I read you post on real locke problem, and I do believe you and I are on the same page indeed. We gotta keep up the good work. And les I totally enjoy your theory here, I mean that is real good stuff bro. And I read your thread on Alpert and the others, but part of me says while yes it makes all the sense in the world….I just cant see the writers putting something tha deep out there knowing the american audience that would be viewing. But im probably wrong. Later guys and thanks for reading!
