If you believe that Dharma lost in this battle or “purge” with the “others” then it is possible that Rousseu was …..DHARMA!
— lostboy09
I was rewatching Par Avion with a friend who had missed it (Thank you almighty God for DVR!!) when I kinda realized something about Rousseu. Well I know we all wonder whethere shes really crazy or very sane or maybe a little of both….but since she has joined this trek with kate, locke, and sayid has anyone noticed shes acting just a little strange. Example, when they find the flame…she claims to “never have been here before” yet she wants nothing to do with the place nor the man (patchy) she sees and decides to walk off. Could it be she was lying?
After considering all of this, I began to wonder….if Danielle is lying about something….why would she be? This is what I believe could be a possibility. We all know she is shady as all get out…and more than a few on this website I know believe she is withholding something from our losties…but what? This is what I believe. If you believe that Dharma lost in this battle or “purge” with the “others” then it is possible that Rousseu was …..dharma! Just follow me here….at first I was thinking …nah if she was something more than what she says she is than our patchy friend would have recognized her….thats why she didnt want to enteract with him….but then we see her continue on the trek and that whole theory failed. Then I thought….wait a sec…he WOULD notice her if she was at one time one of them but if she was Dharma….a last survivor of the war between the two factions….I bet he wouldnt recognize her as such. And the reason she didnt want to approach him…and the reason she has called him a liar and called for his execution (all in Par Avion) is the same way any enemy treats another enemy (espically if one has lost the battle to the other). So basically…what I am saying is Rousseu has been lying to our losties about how she got to the island (why I do not know…the Dharma Initative is very secretive) and in fact she is a survivor…perhaps the last…of the Dharma Initative after the so called “purge”. She has been hiding for all these years and hates these “others” because they WERE and ARE her enemy. Think back to how absolutely positive she was that Ben was an “Other” when she caught him in her net. That is because she knows no one of her side is left, no one of Dharma is left!! (Save her that is) Now enters the question of why fool with the losties at all then. Well theres Alex of course, which I do believe is her daughter and was taken from her all those years ago. How many years was that again…16, now lets do a little time line shall we. If youve done your research we know that there was at least two incidents (accodrind to Dharma…refrence Lostpedia), one in 1980 and one in 1985. If the losties are on the island in 2004 then Rousseu apparently considers her “timeline” or stay on the island from when they took her baby. Which means if Alex is actually sixteen she was born in 88, which happend after these two incidents…which leads me to believe that Dharma was defeated sometime between 85 and 88. Ben and these “others” took the baby to give it a “better life”. That would be why Rosseu went and posted the distress signal…she had motivation…to bring people to the island to save her baby…which is what she has now in our losties. Or Alex is older than sixteen, and Danielle only posted the message sixteen years ago and Alex was taken some time before that (perhaps danielle found the radio tower searching for alex) Anyways some may ask, if all this is true then why make up the story about the sickness….I dont know that for sure….I guess maybe because either that is what she believed (the Initiative may have told her there was really a sickness there) or she told our losties about this sickness to prevent telling the truth and explaining the Initiative. I dont really know. Anyhoo, I believe she is Dharma…or what is left of it rather. So indeed she was a scientist but she never crashed on this island. She lived and worked here at one time and is now in alliance with our losties to get her daughter back.

I didn’t see this before posting one of my comments. I’m inclined to believe that Danielle is one of the Dharma survivors. It’s crossed my mind that Patchy might have been as well, but was converted by the hostiles. It’s also crossed my mind that Danielle’s crew may have been going the conversion route, which is why she killed them. But in reality, far too many things cross my mind, it doesn’t take much.
ozzig im right there with you and I do like the thought about perhaps her crew beginning to convert. Good stuff.
I just wanted to mention something about Rousseau that I found a little bit weird. In Par Avion when Patchy was talking to Kate, Sayid, and Locke and he was about to mention that the John Locke he knew about was paralyzed she was the one who interrupted him in the middle of the word. Maybe it was just a coincidence that she interrupted him just then, but maybe she said it just then on purpose because for some reason she doesn’t want people to know that Locke was paralyzed. This is just rampant speculation, but because of how little we truly know about Rousseau perhaps she had some specific reason to interrupt him before he revealed Locke’s former disability.
Could be Nathan…could be. But she was wondering around when the four were talking so if anyone was to break in at anytime it would have been her….perhaps it was just coencidence that it was right at that moment.
there are no such things as coencidences…
[don’t take this the worng way but could you put paragraphs in this please it was really difficult for me to read and keep track of, thanks]
This is the first time I’ve read this theory and I think you are RIGHT ON. I’ve been posting to other peeps theories about this very thing. I think the research vessel was DHARMA, her along with them, and once they arrived on the island her team “purged” with Ben and the others. Maybe she didn’t kill them at all, but is lying to the losties as you’ve mentioned so she didn’t have to tell the truth.
Thanks nickee. Im glad you agree and see her in the same way I do. I mean why should we just accept everything anyone on this island says is truth? Her, Mikhail, Ben…anyone?
