The “others” are not dharma.

Im try not to be too critical when I read theories here because hey lets face it, none of us are a writer of the show so we really dont know fully whats going on. Thats why its called theories. But do you guys ever wonder if the writers arent just sitting back laughing at some of this. I mean I just think we make a little too much of it sometimes. For example, while the Tibetan death book theory or whatever sounds real cool and does correlate, dont you think its a little much. Could it be possible that its actually alot more simpler then we all think. Heres a working theory of mine, that has really been further developed as season three continues.
Alright, for some reasons we keep running into the colors black and white with this show. The backgammon peices, the dharma colors, the marbles of adam and eve. And as Locke stated in season one as he explained backgammon to Walt, “two players, two sides…one light, one dark.” I think that statement really sumarizes SOME of whats going in Lost. I do believe that Ben and these “others” we have been privy to meet are NOT dharma. I believe the truth is right infront of us as Mikhail has stated. Their was a war between these two groups….Dharma and the “others”. Apperantly dharma lost. It sounds like it was a turf war. The “others” had been there longer and did not want dharma intruding on their island. Heres the intriuge though…..just as Ben has stated in season two when michael asked who they were and Ben replied, “where the good guys michael.”, the intriuge is that we the audience have no idea what these people are and what their purpose is nor do we have enough informaton on dharma to come to a conclusive decision on which of the two warring sides are the “good guys”. So it keeps bringing us back for more. So this bring back full circle to this statement, “two sides….one is light, one is dark.” The truth is to find out about dharma…who they were, what they were doing, and why the “others” fought them. And the goal is to find out the same for Ben and his people and after all is known about both groups we, the audience, can determine who is the good guys, aka the light side, and the bad guys, the dark side. So these two colors are symbolic of dharma and the others. I still firmly believe that the others are some kind of religious group who have removed themselves from society (aka the village by M. Night Shaymalan) to give their children and themselves better lives. Which is why they only want certain of the losties to “join” them. And just as the black and white symbolizes dharma and these “others”, jack and locke both represent these two factions. Man of science, man of faith. Dharma is science, others is faith. Science against religion….plus Ben did say the others wanted Locke, that he was coming for him. He could have been telling the truth. Now this is only one part of the mythology and mysterious goingson on the island. This is just what keeps us coming for the next season or two. The underlying mystery of what is so damn special about this place…and the monster and such..i have no freggin clue! And the only thing about my dharma vs others theory is …who the hell is still sending the drops? Also, in Juliettes back story…the man who recruits her is dharma and ethan who is with him was dharma too. But when the “hostiles” or “others” won the war they assimilated ethan and juliette into their ranks, brainwashed ethan it seems. Ok thats all I promise.

I think that is what makes Lost so special, there are so many theories out there! i have never seen a show that does this, and maybe that is the point. That is why lost is so popular, and that is why the writers draw it out so much, they want the public to keep on guessing.
So many stories can come out of this show. So many angles, so many ideas. This show really provokes alot of brilliant minds to expose their colors.
Also, u should read my Jones Town theory, as it is very similar to your “The Village” theory. I mention that movie too in my theory.
Yes, there is for sure this sort of symbolism, evrything about Lost is based on this symbolism.
