I’ve noticed somethng strange in the Homecoming episode
When Ethan comes looking for Claire he looks like he did when he captured Claire and had scratches on his face in this episode - he was also wet yet it wasn’t raining - but in the flashbacks in Season 2 ‘s Maternity Leave episode there were no scratches on his face when he was looking after Claire - weird but you would assume that they had been made by Claire in the struggle when he captured Claire and Charlie but this obviously isn’t the case.
So either it’s a mistake by the producers or there could be an alternate timeline running. Of course the guy Ethan killed Scott, may have scratched him but I think it’s unlikely.

This is nothing to do with ethans scratches but your post reminded me of a question raised in series one episode23. Danielle had deep scratches on her arm. Locke noticed them as she took off her top (as they were walking to the black rock). He asked her what caused them and she seemed quite evasive. She claimed dismissively that she got them form a bush. This was not a convincing answer as seen from Lockes disbelief but it was not raised again. It seemed to be quite an important scene that then lead nowhere. What did cause Danielles scratches?
There was the scene when druggedout Claire just left the medical hatch with the help of Alex and Danielle is trying to help her and we see Claire scratch her there.

Claire also notices it before that, when she is returned after getting kidnapped. (In the season 1 finale) just before Rousseau steals Claire’s baby, Claire notices the scratches, then has a flash of a memory of herself doing that to Rousseau, and assumes at that point that it was Rousseau that kidnapped her.
wow, random thought but what if Ethan crashed on the island with the taillies, was captured by the others, and then captured Claire. Maby thats why he was wet. And he was a doctor- which would be a valubal tool for the others to use. In The Other 48 Days, one of the tailies that was captured the first night was forien(forgot where from) but Ethan could be bilangual? possibly? sorry been up for a day and a half :-S
