After watching this episode again, I think its pretty conceivable that there are Flash forwards of Locke in this episode. I think the idea runs parallell with the Jack story who got all depressed after leaving the island taking drugs while Locke starts ringing chatlines.
After Locke confronted the monster he stated (in the next episode)that he ‘looked into the eye of the island’ and it was beautiful. Did the islans show him the future at this point? There is nothing to suggest that the flashbacks of Lockes could be in the past, you just asume it. However there is evidence to suggest that they are flash forwards such as
John’s boss is the same person who works with Hurley but he seems older and is a manager - he also seems a bit jealous of Locke but why? (has he had some publicity before?)
In the phone call the guy calls Locke ‘Colonel Locke and is this line secure GL-12?’ which could suggest he’s talking to someone about the island or it may just be a board game?
Locke is following the same line as Jack, being depressed and phoning chatlines.
Locke wants to go on a walkabout - liked the island experience a lot didn’t he? Of course I could be wrong but it would make sense why Locke doesn’t want to leave the island as he knows what he is going back to.
I think it’s also interesting that the episode doesn’t start with a flashback like a lot of episodes.
Good pick up on the episode, I’m almost sure that it is the past. In the episode were Locke blows up the sub, Ben says something along the lines of “I know you spent almost your whoel life at something boxing company in Tustin, CA. the box company he is talking about is the one in the flashback in “Walkabout”. If that was a flashback, I think that definitelty shows that the writers were planning the end from the beginning.
I have been saying the same thing. When Loc is at the farm and about to shoot the cop, he says he USED to be a hunter. This is the same episode that Eco tells Loc we will save everyone because he is a hunter. Loc was a wimp before he got on the island and a wimp when he got off.
I’m gonna watch it Thursday night along with everyone else and post Friday…

You smoke rocks. The walkabout tour happened just before he got on the plane and crashed on the Island.

Yeah ithink the walkabout happened BEFORE only cuz that was the reason he was in Australia and that why he was on the plane. But i do wonder if any of the so called flashbacks were flashforwards.
i think this question could be answered by simply watching the flash-whatever and seeing if he has his scar
like i dont know about you or anything, but like I knew that the flashfoward way before it was reveiled, as soon as I saw him talking on his razor phone i knew something was up
