Sorry Edit - half way sane boyfriend thought some of what I said wasn’t right……. so on we go.

Rousseau screwed things up when she changed the transmission…but Dharma had a back-up - Every 108 minutes, the coordinates of the island were punched into the computer, then a bad thing happened…Ben made Locke believe that the button didn’t need to be pushed. This stopped the Island from being able to be located….seems that Ben knew that Dharma’s mission was going to be coming to an end and they were going to return and begin their experiments again, maybe even kill everyone there….or he knew someone was coming…..Ben seemed to know this….that is why he was adamant about ending communication but also why he couldn’t tell any one (because he lied!!!!!) Bonnie and Greta were very loyal to Ben and Ben knew it, yet he had Mikhail kill them….. (of course Bonnie and Greta were supposed to be in Canada tracking down the Penny’s people who are trying to locate the Island) … They must have known about Ben’s on going involvement with Dharma who was supposed to come back. Ben was working both sides - that is why he was getting the food drops…Dharma may have known of his plans to “purge” the people within his group or Ben communicated to them that very few of them survived a hostile attack and told Dharma he would study them and work with them and give the information to Dharma……The hostiles can never know this or he would never be able to learn their secrets - Ben is concerned with fertility issues (because he never wants to leave the Island), but Richard has said that Ben has side tracked them from more important issues.

I think Ben doesn’t let the losties leave because he was in Cahoots with Dharma in some way and can’t risk the losties telling on him for going against their plan and stealing their children, he doesn’t want the whole world to know about this very special Island, or because Jacob needs them. Maybe he KNOWS Dharma wouldn’t come back and therefore knows that Naomi is bad news.

Now we have the issue of Hurley and the numbers - Libby was a very key person….she made sure that Desmond had a boat…..she observed Leonard Sims repeating the numbers, and somehow she made sure that Hurley would never forget the numbers…she made sure Hurley won the lottery when he played the numbers, she knew that our losties would forget and Hurley would remember, and the button needed to be pushed.

Naomi’s appearance..is she like Libby and sent to make sure Charlie and Desmond followed through with what needed done, was she on a Dharma mission, or did Penny really send her. Naomi said Penny’s company hired her, but she also said she never met Naomi….she didn’t tell the losties Penny was on the boat - her conversation with Charlie was too quick - so yes…Naomi also could have been sent by Penny

If Ben was involved with Dharma, then Dharma had to know that Des was pushing the button, when Des stopped did they send Naomi. It seems Penny wanted the button pushed because Desmond had a letter in the book from Penny, and Penny needed Desmond to find that letter so that he had hope and would not kill himself.

Like someone has said, they have cameras all over…did Dharma make a copy of the picture Des had and simply give it to Naomi so she could find him??

Penny is looking for Desmond or the Island. Dharma is trying to find it’s Island because it wants to finish it’s task but Ben made that nearly impossible, Penny’s Dad and Sun’s dad would probably both love to find the Island and are probably looking for it.

The Hostile’s I believe are very powerful psychic people, who, I think really are “watching”. The bible talks about Angels who are sent to watch (not that our hostiles are Angels). We also have “The Watchers” from Marvel Comics, so the job of the Hostiles was to watch, and to try to keep things in line. Jacob is the most powerful psychic, but Dharma has him hidden away somewhere to study him or stop him. He used to talk to Ben, but he has become weaker and Ben has started to loose faith…..Jacob needed Locke who is very in tuned to the Island….for all we know, Lockes crazy mom could be Jacobs daughter. Ben tried to kill Locke either because he was afraid that Locke would take over, or because he still didn’t trust him….he knew Locke heard him, but if Locke heard him and was still going to claim he didn’t and was going to say that Ben was a fake, he had to shoot him so that Jacob/the Island would help him and so he would believe.

When the incident occurred someone went back (like Desmond did) - they changed something and the hostiles are trying to use their psychic abilities to course correct the changes. So if it is their “job” to keep the world in line, they are in direct opposition to Dharma, who wants very much to change things. One way Dharma could try to change things was to capture Jacob….

The smoke monster is/was probably a creation of Dharma and …..simply programmed to read the thoughts of people and decide if they are any kind of threat….It may have initially been used to study the Hostiles. Some of the people have been allowed to leave the Island in order to bring the people that Ben/Jacob needs. So leaving the Island and returning doesn’t seem to be a problem as long as Ben trusts them….Juliet and the losties would never be trusted totally by Ben.

The Whispers….well, due to the nature of the Island, people are able to hear the people who have died….they just are not tuned in enough to understand.

The dead people and other things our losties have seen…..I think that some people are psychic enough to actually see dead people or Jacob is powerful enough to manifest himself into a form that can be seen. Jacob may have manifested himself as Richard, to Ben when Ben was a child….Jacob then knew he had a person he could trust…Richard is probably someone who was a “later hostile” or part of Dharma, although it is still possible Dharma experimented on him with the aging process, or he is in fact indigenous to the Island and ages slowly.

There is some kind of time loop going on, so it is possible that Jack and Kate and any of our other losties who managed to escape, got thrown back through a time loop much like Desmond, so the reason Kate is not a fugitive is because “this time” she didn’t kill her dad, and Jack didn’t let his dad die…….but he also didn’t get on the plane again…so it crashed and everyone is dead….Jack is distraught….the plane crashed, but he knows they aren’t dead….but he also can’t get back..because he doesn’t know how to.

Who is in the coffin? Probably Michael….Michael got off the Island in a normal way….Jack knows that Michael knew how to get back….Dharma or whoever now has control of the Island tracked him down and killed him because they were afraid that Michael was really going to tell someone (like Jack) how to get back. John Latham was an artist…so was Michael.

Jack is lying about the time loop thing that happened because everyone would think he was crazy if he said anything…Kate doesn’t want to go back because she is happy and no longer running…Jack is suffering from guilt - he brought destruction to the Island, and the plane crashed but he believes the people are alive.

The Black Rock……It shipped wrecked due to a storm and because of the psychic qualities of the Island Magnus’s grandson Alvar was eventually drawn to it.

If Rousseau is to be believed her crew got sick, and she killed them…if they got sick, then the fact that she was pregnant had to be what saved her…..or…..Ben’s people made everyone sick on purpose but not her because Ben wanted her baby……

The fertility issues on the Island are probably due to the Islands healing properties and women who conceive on the Island die because their immune system changes - the babies immune system is different due to the properties of the Island, and fights the mothers immune system but because the babies are conceived on the island, their immune system is stronger and the baby “wins”. It is possible that the indigenous people of the Island could have children, but their are very few left because of disease brought by people from the outside world, and many of them are truly just too old. If they truly do age more slowly they may appear younger, but still not be capable of reproduction…….

Good theory. I always thought that they should have been a little patient about being rescued in the final episode. Perhaps if they would have waited for Charlie to shut down the jamming signal, and let the signal play in the radio tower for awhile, maybe someone would have heard Rousseau’s signal. Then again, maybe they feared the others would stop them if they did not call for rescue immediately.
