We have, sometimes rather hotly, debated the whole flashback/flashforward argument from the season finale, and to be honest I don’t think there is enough evidence to know either way at this point, but I am going to give it a guess, feel free to crucify me.
I think jack and kate knew each other before the trip to the island, and for some reason they have some connection with Oceanic. in the Finale Jack talks about the golden ticket and in season one Kate was obsessed with the little model plane, we see this even in her flashbacks very early on. I propse that Jack and Kate met when Jack was in Med school, and Kate was going to see her friend, you know the doctor that tried to help her escape and died in the process. i’ll further propose that Jack and Kate’s friend became best of friends. Before Kate gets the good doctor killed, I propose that Jack’s best friend cheated with Jack’s wife and they got together and had children. Then when Kate gets the doctor killed, jack is already half crazy flying to thialand fro the weekend/overdosing on pills and booze and generally doing very un-hero like things. We all know Kate gets away for a while, and marries the cop. That is the he that she must get back to when she is talking to Jack. I know this theory has a bunch of holes so go ahead, tear it up, be as ruthless to me as I have been to you. Its half the fun.

if i´m not mistaking, after the whole stitch me up scene jack says: “I don´t even know your name”, in a situation where there´s no one else around but him and kate. If they knew eachother he wouldn´t say that.

alice— your right, it was a slow night and there are a lot of newbies posting theories that are crap, so i wanted to see if I could get them a little riled up. i gues this is one more reason we need a general discussion thread. Sorry.
there´s a big portion of arrogance in that comment, isn´t this forum open to anyone who has a theory, if you think it´s crap just give it a low score, don´t make fake theories to make fun of those who don´t share your specific ideas.
I definitely agree that they definitely act (in private as well) that they don’t know each other.
There are so many tricks of the island though… what if one of the tricks was to heal their relationship so it gave them a fresh start by making them think they don’t know each other? Hmmm….
