Could it be the DeGroots? Could it be Jack and Kate?

- On the Lost Season 2 DVD Lost Connections there is a previously unseen clip when the navigation moves from Eko to Richard Malkin. Malkin tells Eko that he was paid $16,000 by a couple in Los Angeles to convince a pregnant girl to board a plane.
What do you all make of this? Do you think it was left in the extras as a hint or as something they wanted us to know but did not have time in the episode for it? Who is the couple? Could it be the DeGroots? Could it be Jack and Kate (loop or multiple island trip theory)?
I don’t know. Something to think about..

Correct me if i’m mistaken here… but is Richard Malkin not the physic man who told Claire that he had a couple in LA who would buy her baby ? Claire later realized that he made up this story so that she would get on the plane (to LA) because he knew that it would crash and this would result in Claire not giving up her baby… which is what he wanted all along.
It is the same man (Richard Malkin) who Eko goes to see about his daughter… the girl who came back to life after drowning.
In the scene with Eko, Malkin blatantly makes himself out to be a fake (physic) in order to convince Eko that his daughters resurrection was not a miracle. This got me thinking… was this another lie because he ‘knew’ that if Eko believed his daughters story he would not go to the island like he was supposed to ?
Being a physic he might have a sense of the destiny of Claire and Eko and foreseen some of the events on the island… hence his reaction the first time Claire went to get a reading, and why he was so aggressive in convincing Eko not to continue his investigation into his (Malkins) daughter.
Any thoughts ?
I believe thou art correct LostProphet, and good observations raga.
Or did they cut the scene out of the show to remove it from the storyline? But of course then why did they put it on the DVD? Either way, good find.
Some have also wondered if Malkin had any connection to the Others in some way, him being a psychic and all (like the whole Walt thing).
