Fate - what is meant to be……an outcome that is created by events to acheive a final outcome that was meant to be.
The others goal…..well it must be fully achieving one’s destiny.
Destiny involves the participation of the person who makes choice to achieve the outcome….
Ben wanted Jack to willfully CHOOSE to do his surgery…..
When Locke asked Cooper why he didn’t just ask for his Kidney, Cooper said it had to be Lockes choice……..So the answer should be that fullfilling a Destiny is not FATE - and the lady from the shop who told Desmond about course correction is wrong…..

Wow, you really like elipses. Anyway, remember when Sawyer was teaching his long-con girlfriend how to con, and he told her you get someone to suggest something like it’s their idea, but it’s not, it’s your idea.
So I don’t think it’s really that significant that both ben and cooper used that technique. They’re con men.
