The Plane was brought to island by not entering numbers on time. I believe there were 2 other occasions when the numbers were entered late or not at all .

(Correct me if wrong) once when Locke imputed the numbers as the hyrogliphs began to appear and second when they destroyed the hatch. What else occurred? was one of these incidents the reason for Naomi crashing on the Island, (although i think the timing is off) . What else was brought/sucked/teleported/bilocated to the island. In our upcomming 3 seasons i would hope to see a flashback to see if there is validity to this idea. otherwise why would our Losties be there due to numbers not entered.

Oh yeah, In Lockdown when Locke asks Ben to go through the vents to get to the Computer and enter the numbers, not sure if memory is correct have to rewatch episode but doesnt Ben say that he did nothing and some hyroglyphs appeared and then the clock reset. Because to me that one sentence Ben says ( if it is correct) leads me to two thought processes, one being Bens lying and did enter the numbers which leads to, how could he know about the hyroglyiphs if the hatch has been manned for some time in isolation of all other hatches/people. He was a cleaners son that helped the hostiles purge Dharma. Too many more questions, and if we choose to believe Ben told the truth and didnt enter the numbers, why nothing happened other than food drop and blast doors opening. Does the magnetic force stop when theres a lockdown and not entering numbers means supplies are needed. more question when thinking this way. So I asume Ben did enter numbers but his knowledge of the hyroglyphs need to be explained. I should re-title this post as mad rambling from a lost lunatic. any feed back welcome, just tell me that your there and not Lost as I am.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit to find out that the ‘lockdown’ had something to do with outside influences being able to freely access the island during them. Good thoughts.+1

In season three when Ben presents Locke with his father. He tells Locke that he brought his father to the island. This is the same time that Ben makes the Little box theory know we know that previously Locke worked as a regional manager for a Box company.

I think you’re right regarding the food drop link.

RE: Ben not pushing the numbers, the hatch was manned in isolation from other hatches, but The Others were able to watch what was going on in The Swan station from the monitors in the Pearl so if they didn’t know what was going on there already (which I imagine at least Ben did) then they could have found out that way.
