We shouldn’t have left… We have to go back.” - Jack

— bbridges21

So, for those of you that have seen the Final Destination movies, or at least the first one, then you know the idea behind premonitions. For those of you who don’t, here’s a quick little summary. A premonition is basically when you have a vision or feeling that something is going to happen, or has happened. Kind of like deja vu, but it’s GOING to happen.

So, to the theory. The flash forwards that we see in the season 3 finale are not the definite future. They are simply premonitions, or with the skill of video splicing, a whole entire premonition cut and spliced into the show to mess with our heads. Jack sees all this happening right before he makes the phone call, or during the phone call, and knows that it’s a mistake, hence what he says to Kate at the end, at the airport. Season 4 should start again with either recaps of season 3, much like what happened in the beginning of each new season, or it should pick up with Jack holding the phone with that dumbfounded look on his face that says, Oh crap! What am I going to do now?

I used to have deja vu, but the come-downs were so bad I gave it up.

    bbridges, welcome to the site!

The writers have confirmed that the flashforward are real and will continue during the next three seasons, along with the usual flashbacks for character and storyline fill ins and will also include island time.

Actually it would have been an interesting theory, so keep posting!

bb, dont ever give up!! New people are very important to this site. They come up with fresh and new angles on things that weve rehashed over and over.

Just because your first theory didn work out, you cant just throw in the towel!!! You seem to be a very good writer and as I stated in my comment to you, if the theory hadnt been debunked by the writers, it would have been a very well written, interesting theory on its own merit. Its not your fault the writers debunked it. You just need to do some research before you post a theory, thats all!!

    Don*t give up, ever!
