spoiler warning
I should warn you before I go on that I am basing part of this theory on a spoiler that I read for Season 4, so if you don’t like spoilers I suggest not reading! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
I recently read a spoiler stating that Sayid and Locke are divided over what to do about the Freighter in Season 4 Sayid wants to accompany one of Freighter people to the ship, while Locke wants to trust Ben who claims to have a spy on the Freighter.
Assuming that spoiler is correct then, given that we know Ben already knew that people were searching for the island, I think it is possible Michael’s mission to free Ben in exchange for Walt and the boat was all part of a plan concocted by the Others to plant spies on the Freighter.
The others kidnapped Walt, we believe , to study his psychic abilities, but what if this was simply the first step in setting Michael on course for the freighter?
The Others will have known that Michael was obsessed with getting himself and his son off the island, which was why he constructed two rafts to this end. Of course the others knew that without knowledge of the correct bearing’s he would just end up back at the island again.
Michael was not in a bargaining position, the Others had Walt and knew that Michael would have done anything just to get Walt back from them. But Michael demanded the boat, they did not have to give in to this, he would have done what they asked regardless of whether or not he got the boat, but they gave it him.
We also know that Ben does not let anyone leave the island, why would he let his people witness him allowing Michael and Walt to leave? Unless they all knew that his agenda was get Michael and Walt intercepted by the Freighter.
CPB, This is consistent with what I have read. Apparently it is unknown if Michael is on “Naomi’s” freighter, but I would say that is a good guess. He definitely returns on a boat, which I viewed over at DarkUfo. The one startling revelation is that Michael will be accompanied with one of “the others” that the viewers believe to be dead! I read which “other” it is supposed to be, on another site, but it is still a rumour, so I prefer not to say! And, yes Michael is returning, sans Walt!
So, I think your speculations about the rest of the information are probably accurate, as well! I also read that we will be seeing many people that we thought were presumed dead in the next season, so I can’t wait! Sounds awesome!
If you care to provide the link, I would be interested in reading it. Thanks
CPB & dab: That all sounds pretty much like a scenario to me.What I would like is your opinions, about this fan made video about season 4. At about 2:54 into it right after an explosion .( I think at the dock where the submarine was?) there is a definite image of a man, that I am sure I have never seen before! Any thoughts? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBNv58UKPVQ
I agree, Mickael was not in a bargaining position (and Ben does nothing out of kindness). I also think Ben planned for Mickael and Walt to be on the freighter. He would have known the freighter was there, it’s course and speed. He sent Mickael in an intercept direction, and as for speed of the little boat, it would be safe to say that Mickael would have kept it at as full speed possible, therefore able to predict an interception point..
If there’s an Other on that ship it better be Mikhail, anybody else and I’m calling shenanigans on the writers.
Oh, great, I’ll bet it will turn out to be Mikhail, he swam away from the underwater hatch before it blew, the one guy I wish would stay dead.
Sorry Rise. The article I read states it is somebody else. I purposely left out the name, because it is unconfirmed which “other” it is! I am also hoping it’s Mikhail. That would be my pick!
KSJ, I believe someone brought this video to the forefront before, and deemed a fan made video, which is unreliable. Only, if I see something on DarkUfo, which is confirmed, do I buy into it.
Supposedly a lot of the dead characters will be returning this season, but I’d like to think the other zombies will be in flashbacks or dreams. If Ethan, Libby, Klugh, Boone & Ana Lucia storm off the freighter, I’m not going to watch Lost anymore.
dab, Thanks for the reply,it sure seems hard sometimes to get reliable info, about the new season. I appreciate anything that can help with sorting it all out. I guess I am just a little too anxious for any tidbit of new information!
Actually, I have heard that one of the returning “others” will be Mr. Friendly. Also, Christian Shephard will show up. I don’t think we will see Ana Lucia, Boone, and not Libby (at least this season). I am not so sure about Ethan or Miss Klugh, though. No need to bring back Klugh, unless she has WaIt. I can’t stand looking at Ethan, yuk!
I want Mikhail to return though. I’d like to see him kick the dog dirt out of Ben!
Dog dirt! Snort!
The site I read it on was spoilerfix, I think most of their spoilers are ripped from DarkUFO though. I also read the one about Tom, and apparently he and Michael have a fight in a New York alley way - in what could only be a flashback! This would imply that the Others were aware of Michael/Walt long before the plane crash, which pleases me because during season 2 I always thought the reason as to why Tom had to wear a fake beard (when the rest of the others didn’t) was because one of the Losties had met him in the real world and would recognise him.
CPB, that’s good info. I wondered why Tom wore that fake beard, it made no sense, but this would explain it perfectly.
Scanning for trolls:………………………..Area clear!
This all sounds very plausible except for the fact that the Others intended to kill Michael, Jin and Sawyer when they took Walt off of the raft. Remember that they shot Sawyer, shot at Michael & Jin (and in the dark Iit would be reasonable to assume they didn’t know if they had actually hit either of them or not). They then set the raft on fire leaving all of them possibly shot and miles out at sea. It sure seems like they intended to kill all three of them.
If they really wanted Michael to end up on the frieghter they would have taken him hostage with Walt. This would have made it simple for them to convince Michael to do what they wanted. When he showed up weeks later this played out exactly. I think that was the Others taking advantage of an opportunity when he returned looking for Walt. But at the time they took him, I think taking Walt was their only objective. There’s no way they would have shot at Michael and left him in the ocean miles from shore if they intended on using him at that point.
I like this idea that Michael is “ben’s man” on the freighter. because it makes sense with the fact that we haven’t seen michael yet, I believe unless it has changed or that Im just wrong, that Michael’s character is a regular, and Walt is guest appearance, an offer by ben to michael to ensure Walt’s safety in exchange for spying would be likely, and would make alot of sense.
