I don’t usually enage in debate’s about characters, but I think that Tom’s got a bad press and I want to say something in his favour.
In the episode ‘Maternity Leave’ when Ethan is examining Clare he is pulled aside by Tom who gives him a telling off saying that he was supposed ‘make the list and then bring her in’ Ethan make’s his excuses and Tom then say’s ‘Goddamnit Ethan, you know what he’s gonna do now’
I think he was refering to Ben ripping Aaron out of Clare’s womb before the due date, as Ben probably feared that the Lostie’s would be looking for her.
So there you go Tom was concerned for Clare’s welfare!

Tom wasn’t perfect, but he wasn’t called Mr. Friendly for nothing either.

Anyway CPB I agree you are probably right because I think ALL the Others will turn out to be the ‘good’ guys insofar as there are ‘good’ and ‘bad’ guys on the island.

I think Tom was probably better on the inside than on the outside, seemed like he had some moments of conscience, but unfortunately he was a follow orders no matter what type of guy.
