VK, I’ll let WTF clarify, but she is trying to draw attention to the fact that Jack says “Yeah, well 20 minutes can be a long time” to the flight attendant (as opposed to “That’s plenty of time for me to have another drink”) and how coincidental that statement is with the Orchid video of the bi-located rabbits being set at negative 20 minutes.

The pose is that Jack may possibly know something we don’t yet about how time is “different” somehow.

Does that help? It doesn’t with the rest of the lunacy on this thread, which I am part of, but hopefully it answers your question.

According to Lostpedia in the episode ‘one of Us’ series three, Richard Alpert says that time “really flies” on the island. Could this link in to what Jack said to the stewardess???

Stip: have just watched TTLG part one and jack says ” 20 minutes is a long time”. He’s drunk. I now don’t think there is anything in it at all. He says it without thought. As for my post, I read it on Lostpedia and i sort of remember Richard saying it ( time flies) but I can’t find it in the episode “one of us”. I just thought that linking the two was a possibility but it poses too many problems if time does move faster on the island.

Sorry, this just seems like another attempt to find the meaning of the universe in these character’s most quotidian conversations.

I’ve figured out the significance of the “20 minutes” quote. Jack is trying to convey to the stewardess that 20 minutes of mile high clubbing in an airplane bathroom stall is the equivalent of 3 hours of passionate love in a bed.

The twenty minutes makes more sense, because that’s how long it took the helicopter to fly off the island to the ship….. while it was a day in the islands time.
