Many years ago on the Island, long before Jacob’s time (see my other theory Jacob - my fifty pence worth) There lived an enlightened race of people who had evolved psychic and precognitive powers thank’s to evolving in the prescence of the magnetic black rock’s.
Their civilisation was destroyed by a volcanic eruption on the island, but being psychic they saw this coming. Many would have rather died than leave the island and perished but some left the island and intergrated themselves into ancient human societies.
Today some of their decendant’s have retained this precognitive power, and are much more aware of how the universe work’s.
Our Universe exist’s on a kind of ‘fault-line’ in reality, it’s creation and destruction has happened many time’s over, Locke is aware of this and this is why he keep’s on decreeing what is and isn’t ‘supposed to happen’.
Our Universe is repeatedly destroyed by a catalcylsmic event which occur’s when Widmore and Mittelwerk gain control of the island and repeat the Orchid time-travel experiment on a much bigger scale, making the universe unstable.
The ancient isalnders modern day decendants have been working to prevent this catastrophe by manipulating events so that they could return the decendant’s of their people to the island (the 815ers’s) who will ultimately learn of their heritage and protect it from invasion, the other’s are not strong enough to do this as they don’t naturally belong there.
I think it is possible that Ms Hawking(this was why she wanted to get Desmond to the isalnd) & Richard Malkin (who was instrumental in getting both Claire and mr Eko onto flight 815) are two of these decendant’s.
And we have seen evidence of precognitvie power amongst the lostie’s most notably Desmond, but also Walt when he admit’s to burning the raft Michael tell’s Walt they don’t have to leave on the raft and Walt replies ‘Yes we do’. Also Locke had a vision of the drug plane and of Boone’s death.
This is a long shot I know but in getin very bored waitin for season 4!

i like it! most people on here don’t post theories anymore they just post stupid sh ite like is going on now
this was a pretty good theory. I like it much better than a lot of the time travel stuff thats going around now. Not really a lot of evidence either way but you do a good job.
I like the theory; it make sense, but I think it’s just a little too far out. I don’t think the show could get away with that

I think the abilities the original inhabitants would have had more than just precognative powers. I think they may have been able to bend fate, so to speak. Make things happen. “Make your own luck.” Hurley was good at making bad luck, but now he makes good luck. Walt could make it rain and make his rolls in backgammon happen. Locke seems to be able to make things appear on the island (his dad…dynomite…etc.). Charlie made his guitar show up. Paulo found the diamonds where they should not have been (he thought he needed them to secure Nikki’s love). Kate found the Marshall’s gun box where it should not have been. And so on. And so on.
