I know, it’s ridiculous, and should never have written it, BUT I was bored … what else was I supposed to do! And yes, I realize that most of this has probably been theorized before… but not by me! ;) It’s okay, vote me down. :) And I fully expect it all to be proven wrong, I mean, there is 3 seasons to go!

Alvar Hanso, The Great Grandson of Magnus Hanso, working off of an old family legend locates a mysterious, little known island to use as one big laboratory. The purpose of this laboratory was to study the Valenzetti Equation and predict the extinction of life as we know it on this planet… The dharma Initiative was created for this task…
After DHARMA’s efforts failed, the fanatical, second in command of the HF, Thomas Mittlewerk makes Alvar disappear and assumes the role of head of the HF. Changing methods, he stops trying to solve the Valenzetti Equation and creates a virus that will inevitably wipe out the world population.
He then uses DHARMA to change the purposes and functions of the research facilities on the island to make it sort of a laboratory, a bio-sphere if you will. Instead of researching the VE, the stations now serve the purpose of keeping the island completely isolated from the rest of the planet. Certain stations now have different functions, The Looking Glass now jams all outgoing radio and satelitte transmissions and serves as the entry point for the submarines.
The Flame station now serves as the incoming media station, for radio and television feeds as well as telephone and satelitte transmissions from the outside world. These stations are now staffed with people that are attempting to make the island seem inconspicuous yet part of the surrounding earth, but in reality is completely isolated from it all. (think “The Truman Show”)
The Pearl station is set up to monitor the activities of the employees and make sure that they do not interfere with the lives of the people that are going to be brought to the island in an attempt to create a new perfect society after the rest of life on earth is gone.
Flight 815 is then brought to the island using quite experimental and extensive means. On this flight is a diverse group of people that will eventually re-populate the planet. There are African-Americans, Asians, Mexicans, Whites, Kids, Adults, Men and Women, even a priest is brought along.
Inexplicably, due to the prior DHARMA experiments conducted on the island, A virus was created and unleashed on the island that interferes with a womans natural ability to have children, so at least one pregnant woman is included in flight 815.
A fertility doctor is also hired by DHARMA to live with the people of flight 815 to hopefully combat this virus and make it possible to once again give birth. This fertility doctor is given the use of The Staff station as a medical facility to aid in her attempts.
Because it is a real island in the world, it is plausible that others not involved with either DHARMA or Flight 815 could come across it, one such person is Danielle Rousseau. 16 years prior at the height of the viral outbreak on the island, her and her research team had the unfortunate luck to be marooned on the island. Everyone but her catches the virus and proceeds to go mad … and ultimately die or need to be put to death by those still alive to preserve as much life as is possible.
Realizing that there are in fact other people on the island and having a new infant to care for, Danielle approaches DHARMA in an attempt to get rescued, but things don’t go as she expected. Her child is taken by the island staff to eventually be added to the Flight 815ers and she herself is in grave danger of being murded to protect the secret of the island. As such, she is forced to retreat into the jungle and live a life of solitude and constant fear of being found by dharma. Eventually DHARMA forgets about her and allows her to continue her solitary life in the Jungle.
Flight 815 is brought to what they think is a deserted, tropical island via a plane crash and forced to start life all over again. They are forced to Pick a leader, Set up a new system of rules and laws, Religion and ultimately start life all over again.
Certain security measures were taken to keep the 815ers from realizing that they were in fact in a big laboratory… A smoke monster of sorts, something that none of them have ever seen before (or could even imagine) was installed underground and given “vents” to the surface of the island with which to emerge and frighten the 815ers back into line should they venture to close to DHARMA facilities or generally get to curious.
But ultimately, against all efforts, the 815ers are able to make contact with the outside world and get rescued. But not all of the 815ers are anxious to get back to normal life… the islands unique properties and the simplicity of life are quite enticing to a select few and they in turn choose to remain on the island. DHARMA, admitting failure AGAIN, financially accomidate those that chose to leave (and met a few other demands, like make criminal histories disappear), and have them sign Confidentiality agreements to preserve any future experiements that they may choose to run.
Really good effort and wonderful theory. Wasn’t there a movie about a time when women quit being able to conceive, how was it resolved?
I believe they just fornicated, I mean copulated until everyone died. :) And ill take the comments on a good theory, but Ill admit the effort sucked, Im getting ready to leave for dinner, SUSHI!
Maybe you should try again when your more lucid TT. Kiddin’ buddy! I liked it.
lockeko, “Children of Men” was the movie and I don’t recall there being an explanation of how she was able to get pregnant. Good but somber flick.
I am really, truly happy that most of you chose to ignore this theory, see what happens when I take casual friday too far and drink at the keyboard!? :)
Actually TT, I sort of liked it. It had conflict, it had drama, financial ruin, intigue, kidnapping, blackmail, murder… Yes it was a lovely story!
Sorry, forgot to vote +1! And that was intrigue, not intigue. We all know intigue means something entirely different in some other language!!! maybe…
Annie, you sure you didn’t mean to say it had “dharma” instead of “drama”?
Sham! Actually, it was pretty funny, I can take a joke…unlike those negative-votes-no-post people. :)
Sham: Maybe it should have been Dharma lol
